Colvin Announces Addition of Nate Jones as Conference Officer
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Conference Carolinas Commissioner Chris Colvin announced the addition of Nate Jones as Conference Officer for the 2020-21 academic year.
Jones joins the Conference Carolinas office after spending the last academic year as a graduate assistant with the VCU men's basketball program.
"We are excited to have Nate join us for the upcoming academic year," Colvin said. "Nate's background as a standout student-athlete combined with his top-notch work in athletics already made him an ideal fit for helping us continue to grow with this position. We look forward to everyone having the chance to meet and work with Nate in the upcoming year."
Jones just recently completed his Master's Degree in Sports Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University. While serving as a graduate assistant on Mike Rhoades' staff at VCU, Jones collaborated with the coaching staff to provide detailed scouting reports in addition to preparing video for the coaching staff. He also helped to organize game day activities and helped with youth camp preparation. In addition, he helped to design and implement player workouts along with monitoring the academic progress of VCU men's basketball student-athletes.
Prior to joining the VCU staff, Jones as an Operations Intern worked with industry professionals to expand the Allan Houston Legacy Foundation. Jones' job was to help promote the community outreach for the foundation to cities across the country for the former Tennessee and NBA standout. He also helped coordinate the daily operations for the office.
Jones was a four-year member of the Bucknell men's basketball program. The 2018-19 team captain helped lead Bucknell to Patriot League championships in 2016-17 and 2017-18. He received the Coach's Award for his commitment to the program in both 2017-18 and 2018-19. Jones graduated from Bucknell with a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in English.
"I'm extremely excited to get started in Greenville with the Conference Carolinas staff," Jones said. "I am most appreciative of Commissioner Colvin for this unique opportunity, and I look forward to learning from the experience and knowledge of the entire staff. I also look forward to working directly with student-athletes to help enhance their college experience in any way possible."
