Christian Nishimura Tabbed Men’s Swimmer of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Christian Nishimura of Lees-McRae has been selected as the inaugural Conference Carolinas Men’s Swimmer of the Week of the 2020-21 season.
A senior from Honolulu, Hawaii, Nishimura was an all-conference swimmer last season. He opened the 2020-21 season by breaking the school record in both the 100 breast (57.85) and 100 IM (52.91) in the King Early Season Invite on Oct. 3. His time in the 100 IM currently ranks seventh in NCAA Division II.
In addition to winning both events, Nishimura also touched second in the 200 free (1:43.34) to lead the Bobcats to a second-place finish. In Lees-McRae's final meet of the first semester, Nishimura won the 200 back (2:15.18) to lead the Bobcats to a pair of victories over West Virginia Tech and Shawnee State by a combined score of 303-99.
