Keyanna Spivey of Belmont Abbey and Julie Ford of King Collect Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Keyanna Spivey of Belmont Abbey and Julie Ford of King were tabbed as the Conference Carolinas women’s basketball weekly award winners.
Spivey was named the Player of the Week, while Ford garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors.
A senior forward from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Spivey packed the stat sheet for Belmont Abbey in a perfect 3-0 week that included an impressive two-game sweep of Emmanuel. Spivey averaged 11.33 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in the three wins for Belmont Abbey. She averaged 14 points and six rebounds per game in the two wins over Emmanuel. In the second game win over Emmanuel on Saturday, Jan. 23, Spivey finished with 16 points, seven rebounds (including four offensive) and one steal. In the first win over Emmanuel she had four steals, one assist and one block to go along with 12 points and five rebounds.
A junior center from Cooperstown, New York, Ford had eight blocks and two steals in a two-game sweep of Southern Wesleyan. In the win over Southern Wesleyan on Friday, Jan. 22, Ford blocked five shots and brought down nine rebounds in just 15 minutes on the floor. She followed that up with three blocks and two steals in addition to another nine rebounds in just 14 minutes in the win over Southern Wesleyan on Saturday, Jan. 23.
