Merlin Bellet of Converse Named Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Merlin Bellet of Converse has been named the Player of the Week for men’s tennis for the week ending Oct. 17.
 
In helping Converse to secure its first-ever dual match win, Bellet earned wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Valkyries in an impressive 4-3 program debut road win over Limestone on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
 
Bellet and doubles partner Louka Queguiner first dispatched of the Limestone No. 1 tandem of Julien Pereira and Barthelemy Bourdon, 7-5, to help Converse to the overall doubles point. Bellet then secured a hard-fought 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Pereira at No. 1 singles to collect the historic final point in Converse’s 4-3 program-starting win over Limestone.
