Emmanuel, King Crowned 2021 Conference Carolinas Fall Cross Country Champions

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Emmanuel men’s cross country and King women’s cross country took home the team titles at the 2021 Conference Carolinas Fall Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Mount Olive.
Emmanuel was led by Freshman of the Year Luke Gaddis who finished third while teammates Brandon Martin and Jordan Robinson crossed on his heels as the Lions captured three of the top five sports and four of seven to run away with the team title. It’s the second consecutive team title for Emmanuel who also won the spring event.
Joshua Chepkesir of UNC Pembroke earned Runner of the Year honors with his first-place finish in an 8K time of 24:13.2 which helped the Braves to a second-place team finish while Mount Olive placed third behind second-place finisher Cas Kopmels.
In the women’s 5K race King captured the team title by one point as the top-five runners finished inside the top-20, led by Chloe Wade who placed fifth. The Tornado captured the programs fifth championship and second in the past three seasons.
Jackline Kosgei of UNC Pembroke took home both Runner of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors with a first-place time of 22:45.7. The Braves finished second overall with 61 team points.
