Newberry Picked to Edge UNC Pembroke in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Wrestling Preseason Poll

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Three-time defending champion Newberry has been picked to four-peat in the 2021-22 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Men’s Wrestling Preseason Poll, the conference unveiled on Oct. 26, 2021. 

The Wolves received six of the 11 first-place votes and 96 total points, one point better than conference newcomer UNC Pembroke which captured the remaining first-place votes and 95 total points. Belmont Abbey was picked third with 68 points just ahead of Limestone and Lander who each collected 67 points to round out the top five.

King (64) was sixth in the preseason poll followed by Coker (41), Mount Olive (38), Queens (34), Lincoln Memorial (18) and Emmanuel (17). 

The preseason poll was voted on by the league’s head coaches.
