Several Conference Carolinas Teams Well Positioned in National and Regional Rankings

GREENVILLE, S.C. – As the fall seasons begin to wind down and winter sports begin, Conference Carolinas has maintained a strong presence in both the latest national and regional rankings in the sports of men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s basketball, men's wrestling and men’s and women’s golf.

Chowan men’s soccer program is ranked 20th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 NCAA DII Men’s Soccer National Poll. The Hawks are 10-2-1 on the season and are currently ranked third in the Southeast Region poll. Francis Marion jumped into the USC region rankings at No. 8 with a 9-4-2 record while Mount Olive came in 10th with a 10-5-0 record. The NCAA also released the first Super-Region rankings and Chowan represented Conference Carolinas in eighth. The full USC rankings can be viewed here with the NCAA rankings available here

On the women’s side of the pitch, UNC Pembroke remains eighth in the Southeast with a 12-3-0 record while Mount Olive is 10th at 12-0-2 in the USC poll. In the NCAA Regional rankings, UNC Pembroke is seventh while North Greenville (9-2-4) is ninth and Mount Olive is 10th. The full USC rankings are available here with the NCAA rankings available here

Following the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships, Emmanuel men’s cross country leads all conference institutions with a sixth-place ranking in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region rankings. They are joined by conference foe UNC Pembroke (9th). The national rankings can be viewed here with regional rankings located here

UNC Pembroke is the lone women’s program in the USTFCCCA rankings and they are eighth in the region. The women’s national poll is here while the regional rankings are available here.

In the SwimCloud men’s swimming top-50 rankings on Wednesday, Oct. 27, Emmanuel leads the way in 30th with 576.65 dual points while Lees-McRae is 40th with 542.75 points. Barton is 44th with 536.40 points and Salem is 47th (514.75). On the women’s side, UNC Pembroke leads Conference Carolinas teams in 31st with 567.20 points with Lees-McRae in 43rd (539.50) and Barton is 44th (533.25). Full rankings are available here

In the GolfStat Men’s Team Rankings as of Wednesday, Oct. 25, Belmont Abbey is 17th and Erskine is 22nd. The full rankings are available here.

In basketball, the National Association of Basketball Coaches released the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Preseason Coaches Top-25 poll and Belmont Abbey and Emmanuel received votes in the poll. The full poll is available here

On Oct. 15, the National Wrestling Coaches Association released the 2021-22 NCAA Division II Collegiate Rankings and South Atlantic Conference Carolinas was well represented. UNC Pembroke leads the way in 19th with 20 points followed by Newberry in 22nd with 14 points. Belmont Abbey and King joined them in the poll and are tied for 24th with 13 points each.
