Bracket Set for 2021 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Field Hockey Championship

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) –Converse won its first-ever South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Regular Season Title and  claimed the No. 1 seed in next week’s South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Field Hockey Championship. 

The Valkyries finished the conference schedule with a record of 8-4 and as the No. 1 seed have earned a bye into the  semifinals.  

Limestone finished the regular season with a 7-5 record in conference play to earn the No. 2 seed and will also receive a  bye into the semifinals.  

Belmont Abbey picked up the No. 3 seed, followed by Newberry as the No. 4 seed. Both teams finished the season with records of 6-6 in conference play.  

Mount Olive and Queens rounded out the field as the No. 5 and No. 6 seeds, respectively. The Trojans finished with a  record of 6-6, while the Royals finished the year with a 5-7 record.  

Belmont Abbey won the three-way tie with Newberry and Mount Olive by virtue of its 3-1 record versus the other two  teams. Newberry then won the tiebreaker with Mount Olive thanks to a 1-1 record versus Belmont Abbey, while Mount  Olive was 2-0 against Belmont Abbey. Both teams were 1-1 versus Converse and Limestone.  

The 2021 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Field Hockey Championship quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 2 at the higher seeds, while the semifinals will be played in Spartanburg, S.C. at Converse on Friday, Nov. 5. Winners will  advance to the championship finals on Sunday, Nov. 7, also at Converse.  

The 2021 Field Hockey Championship schedule is as follows: 
Tuesday, Nov. 2 (at higher seed) 

Game 1: #4 Newberry vs. #5 Mount Olive, 6:00 p.m. 
Game 2: #3 Belmont Abbey vs. #6 Queens, TBA 

Friday, Nov. 5 (at Converse University) 
Game 3: #2 Limestone vs. Winner Gm. 2, 2:00 p.m. 
Game 4: #1 Converse vs. Winner Gm. 1, 5:00 p.m. 

Sunday, Nov. 7 (at Converse University 
Game 5: winner game 1 vs. winner game 2, 2:00 p.m.
