Shannon Skryd of UNC Pembroke and Gabrielle McGlamery of Emmanuel Pick Up Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Shannon Skryd of UNC Pembroke and Gabrielle McGlamery of Emmanuel have collected the Conference Carolinas weekly awards for women’s volleyball for the week ending Oct. 3.
Skryd was chosen as the Player of the Week, while McGlamery was selected as the Specialist of the Week.
A junior outside hitter from Naperville, Illinois, Skryd averaged 3.27 kills and 3.73 digs per set in three matches last week for UNC Pembroke. She finished the week hitting .322 while also collecting five service aces, three assists and one block. Skryd had two double-doubles on the week, finishing with 15 digs and 10 kills in a four-set match with Emmanuel before posting 20 kills and collecting 14 digs in a four-set road win at Erskine on Saturday, Oct. 2.
A sophomore setter from Fayetteville, Georgia, McGlamery averaged 43.3 assists per match in three matches last week for Emmanuel. She finished her week with a total of 130 assists and 34 digs. She had two double-doubles on the week. McGlamery opened last week with a career-best 50 assists to go along with a career-high 16 digs in a four-set match with Georgia College. In Emmanuel’s four-set win over previously conference unbeaten UNC Pembroke, McGlamery had 46 assists and 11 digs.
