NCAA Division II Awards Conference Carolinas Grant for Exemplary Strategy
INDIANAPOLIS – NCAA Division II has awarded Conference Carolinas a grant based on its strategic positioning as a conference in promoting its student-athletes, coaches and administrators through its “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature series.
The NCAA Division II conference grant program, now in its 20th year, has provided millions of dollars to Division II conferences to implement priorities and initiatives that support the Division II Strategic Plan and the Division II strategic positioning platform. The grant funding allows NCAA Division II conferences to operate more effectively and efficiently.
Over the summer Assistant Commissioner/SWA Jill Robbins and Commissioner Chris Colvin submitted the grant proposal. The Division II Planning and Finance Committee then officially awarded Conference Carolinas the $2,000 grant on Tuesday, Oct. 5 to acknowledge its “Feature Writer for Conference Website” strategy in the “Membership and Positioning Initiatives” strategic positioning outcome area.
“This is a tremendous honor for Conference Carolinas,” Commissioner Colvin said. “Utilizing our most significant resources in our student-athletes, coaches and administrators is always our best way to tell our story as a conference. They make Conference Carolinas possible, and the ‘Body, Mind, and Soul’ features help us to relay just how special our conference is to the public.”
The “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature series is a collaboration between public relations legend Bob Rose and Assistant Commissioner for External Relations Brian Hand. Rose and Hand then work with the entire Conference Carolinas office to help tell the stories. Rose is a longtime sports public relations executive who has worked for the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, the NFL Cardinals, Cal, Stanford and other organizations.
The series of “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature stories have led to local, regional and national coverage with Michael Neustifter of North Greenville even featured by
Sports Illustrated after the release of the “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature. Neustifter was also profiled on Perfect Game College Baseball on MLB Network on radio and on WYFF and WLOS.
