Mount Olive Picked to Win Seventh Men’s Indoor Track and Field Title in Preseason Coaches’ Poll
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas men’s indoor track & field head coaches unanimously selected Mount Olive to win a sixth consecutive and seventh overall conference championship in the 2021-22 preseason poll released on Wednesday.
The Trojans received a perfect 100 points and 10-of-11 first-place votes, since teams cannot vote for themselves. They will be led by reigning indoor track athlete and freshman of the year, Cas Kopmels. There was a tie for second place as Emmanuel and UNC Pembroke each received 79 points while the Lions captured the remaining first-place honor. North Greenville was picked to finish fourth with 69 points.
Lees-McRae earned 58 points to take the fifth spot and was followed by Belmont Abbey (53), Southern Wesleyan (42), Barton (35), Erskine (34), King (32) and first-year program Converse (24).
The 2022 Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on February 20-21 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
