Mount Olive Picked to Edge UNC Pembroke in Women’s Indoor Track & Field Preseason Poll
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Mount Olive was picked to narrowly beat reigning champion UNC Pembroke in the 2021-22 Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the conference announced on Wednesday.
The Trojans, who are seeking their eighth championship crown after winning seven straight from 2014-2020, received 93 points and four first-place votes in the poll. UNC Pembroke, the 2021 champion was a close second with 86 points and six first-place votes. Southern Wesleyan was chosen third with 77 points, North Greenville is fourth with 64 and Emmanuel rounds out the top five with 59 points and the final first-place selection.
Converse was chosen sixth with 58 points and was followed by Lees-McRae (51), Belmont Abbey (36), Barton (31), Erskine (29) and King (21).
The 2022 Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on February 20-21 at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
