Shanika Peterkin and Jami Tham of Barton Named Women’s Basketball Weekly Award Winners

GREENVILLE, S.C. Shanika Peterkin and Jami Tham of Barton have earned the weekly honors in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball for the week ending Nov. 21.
 
Peterkin was selected as the Player of the Week, while Tham earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades. 
 
A senior forward from Virginia Beach, Virginia, Peterkin tallied 18 points and 11 rebounds in addition to two assists and two blocked shots in leading the Bulldogs to an 84-55 home-opening win last Wednesday over Shaw. The All-American shot 47 percent from the field to earn her first honor of the season. 
 
A native of Arlington, Virgina, Tham recorded a double-double in the Bulldogs win over Shaw with 15 points and 16 rebounds. The senior grabbed seven defensive boards, tallied two steals and blocked five shots in the win.
