Rankings Update: Conference Carolinas Continues Success in Regional and National Polls
GREENVILLE, S.C. – With conference championships underway and winter sports getting started, Conference Carolinas continues to have a strong presence across both regional and national polls in several sports.
Chowan’s men’s soccer program received votes in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Top 25 NCAA DII Men’s Soccer National Poll. The Hawks are 11-3-1 on the season and are currently ranked fourth in the USC Southeast Region poll. Francis Marion moved up one spot to No. 7 with an 11-4-2 record while Mount Olive also moved up to No. 9 with an 11-5-0 record. The NCAA also released the second Super-Region rankings and Chowan represented Conference Carolinas in 12th. The full USC rankings can be viewed here with the NCAA rankings available

On the women’s side of the pitch, Mount Olive (14-0-2) moved up three spots to No. 7 while UNC Pembroke (13-4-0) slipped to ninth and North Greenville (12-2-4) joined the poll in 10th in the USC Southeast region rankings. In the NCAA Regional rankings, UNC Pembroke improved to sixth while Mount Olive climbed three spots to No. 7 and North Greenville slipped to 10th. The NCAA Division II Southeast Regional for men’s and women’s cross country takes place this week and the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association will release post race rankings ahead of the national championship meet on Nov. 20. In the pool, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America released its Division II Preseason Poll and Emmanuel men’s swimming is ranked 25th while UNC Pembroke women hold down the same spot in their poll. The polls can be seen here.
In the SwimCloud men’s swimming top-50 dual rankings on Wednesday, Nov. 3, Emmanuel is ranked 16th with 621.50 points, Lees-McRae is 41st (553.50), Barton is 47th (536.40) and Salem is 50th (514.85). On the women’s side, UNC Pembroke leads Conference Carolinas teams in 34th with 567.20 points with Lees-McRae in 44th (550.35), Emmanuel is 46th (542.85) and Barton is 47th (533.25). In the GolfStat Men’s Team Rankings as of Wednesday, Nov. 3, Belmont Abbey is 16th, Erskine is 20th and Barton is 23rd. The full rankings are available here.
In basketball, the 2021-22 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches Poll was released this week and Belmont Abbey is ranked 25th while Barton is receiving votes. In the men’s basketball D2SIDA Preseason Poll Emmanuel received votes and ranked fourth in the Southeast region while Belmont Abbey was sixth and UNC Pembroke was ninth in the region rankings. The polls can be found here.
