Austin Hetter of Barton Captures Second Annual Conference Carolinas Esports Madden Invitational Title
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Austin Hetter of Barton captured the 2021 Conference Carolinas Madden Invitational championship by besting teammate Brett Blackley in the final on Saturday, Nov. 6.
The Second Annual Conference Carolinas Madden Invitational Championship finals started with quarterfinal play at 11 a.m.
Hetter first picked up a win over Payne Severance of Erskine in the quarterfinals. He faced Brendan Kelly of Belmont Abbey in the semifinals.
Blackley automatically advanced to the semifinals where he faced off against Jenkins Peeler of Erskine.
With Blackley playing as the Arizona Cardinals and Hetter as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the final started with Blackley racing out to a 7-0 advantage. Hetter and Tampa Bay responded by scoring 21 unanswered points to take a 21-7 lead.
Blackley would cut Hetter’s lead to 21-14 in the final minutes of the game, but Hetter tacked on a field goal down the stretch to secure the 24-14 victory and a Conference Carolinas championship.
