GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas has unveiled its 2021 fall men's soccer all-conference honors as chosen by the league’s head coaches.

A sophomore from London, England, Alife Pope of Mount Olive was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Year in Conference Carolinas. Pope led all in Conference Carolinas with 11 goals and 26 points in conference play. Pope closed out the regular season overall with 34 points on 14 goals and six assists. Pope is the first from Mount Olive to earn Offensive Player of the Year accolades since the award was instituted in 2012.

A graduate student from Tuxford, England, Toby Sims of Chowan collected his third Defensive Player of the Year honor (2018, 2019 and fall 2021) for his efforts during the regular season. Not only did Sims lead an incredibly stingy Chowan defense, but he also was an asset for the Hawks on the offensive end where he had seven goals and three assists in league play. Sims was second in Conference Carolinas in all games with 11 goals during the regular season from his spot defensively. His 25 points were also second-best in Conference Carolinas.

Daniel Garvilla of Lees-McRae was selected as the Freshman of the Year. The St. Charles, Missouri native is the fifth from Lees-McRae to earn the prestigious honor. Garvilla is the first from Lees-McRae to earn the honor since his teammate and fall 2021 first-team all-league choice Johannes Oeksnevad picked up the honor in 2017. Garvilla closed out the regular season in the top 15 in Conference Carolinas with six goals. He scored four of his six goals in league play. Garvilla was also named the Freshman of the Month for men’s soccer in October.

Francis Marion’s Luis Rincon was named the Coach of the Year in Conference Carolinas for leading his program to the regular-season title in its first season in the league. Francis Marion finished the regular season in conference play with a 10-0-1 record.
