Rankings Update: Conference Carolinas Continues Regional and National Relevance
GREENVILLE, S.C. – With the Thanksgiving holiday behind us and Christmas right around the corner, Conference Carolinas institutions remain in strong positions in national and regional polls.
The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association released the second Division II Top 25 regular-season poll of the 2021-22 season and Barton moved up four spots to No. 17 with 189 points. In the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Women’s Basketball Poll Barton continued to receive votes and moved up one spot to No. 4 in the Southeast Region, Belmont Abbey is ranked eighth while Mount Olive and King received votes in the region.. The National Association of Basketball Coaches released the second regular-season poll of the 2021-22 season and Emmanuel was the lone league representative as they received votes. In the men’s basketball D2SIDA Preseason Poll UNC Pembroke received votes and was fifth in the Southeast Region behind No. 4 Emmanuel and ahead of Belmont Abbey (RV). On the tennis court, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the Division II Men’s and Women’s National Rankings for the Top 50 singles and Top 25 doubles teams for each gender as well as updated regional rankings. On the men’s side, Armando Ferreira of Mount Olive is ranked 17th in the Southeast Region and is joined by Jonas Grasmuck of Southern Wesleyan at No. 19. The Belmont Abbey duo of Xaveam Van Wijk and Nicholas Cary rank fourth in the regional doubles rankings. On the women’s side, Conference Carolinas continues to be represented by Emma Bentz of Erskine at No. 15 in the Southeast. The men’s polls are available here while the women’s poll is
