North Greenville, UNC Pembroke Represent Conference Carolinas on Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-Southeast Region Women’s Volleyball Teams
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) released its 2021 All-Southeast Region women’s volleyball teams on Wednesday afternoon and a pair of Conference Carolinas student-athletes were recognized.
The two honorees are Abigail Durham of North Greenville and Brianna Warren of UNC Pembroke. Both were named to the second team.
Durham was named the 2021 Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball Player of the Year. A redshirt sophomore from Easley, South Carolina, Durham was the offensive catalyst for the Crusaders as she averaged a league-best 3.64 kills per set with a minimum of 65 sets played and her 335 total kills in 92 sets ranks fourth in the league. She also led the league in points per set with a minimum of 65 sets played with 3.97 per set as she totaled 365 points on the season. The opposite/outside hitter is the first women’s volleyball player from North Greenville to win the award.
A 2021 Conference Carolinas First Team selection, Warren helped lead the Braves to the conference semifinals in their return to the league this fall. Warren hit an outstanding .353 this season, the second-best mark in the conference, with 307 total kills. The Indian Trail, North Carolina native was also impressive at the net defenfensively, leading the league in blocks with 124 on the season, 39 solo. Warren is the first Braves player to earn All-Region recognition.
The D2CCA Player of the Year award and all-region teams are nominated and selected by the region’s sports information directors.
The D2CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of high education. The D2CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact NCAA Division II athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
The 13 members of the All-Southeast Region first team will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released Tuesday, Dec. 7. The complete All-Southeast region teams follow.
