Drew Gardner of Lees-McRae and Tranard Ferrell of Southern Wesleyan Pick Up Men’s Basketball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Drew Gardner of Lees-McRae and Tranard Ferrell of Southern Wesleyan have collected the weekly honors for Conference Carolinas men’s basketball for the week ending Dec. 12.
Gardner was tabbed as the Player of the Week, while Ferrell garnered Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
A senior forward from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Gardner finished with a career-best 33 points in the Lees-McRae 87-80 road victory over Converse on Saturday, Dec. 11. Gardner collected a double-double in the game as he also had 11 points to go along with his 33 points. Gardner also had two assists and one block in the league victory. He was 11-of-22 (50 percent) from the filed overall, while also knocking down three of his seven three-point attempts (43 percent). He missed just one of his nine free throw attempts (89 percent).
A senior forward from Hardeeville, South Carolina, Ferrell packed the stat sheet in Southern Wesleyan’s 93-70 road league win at King on Dec. 11. Ferrell finished the conference win with a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points. He also had three blocks, three assists and one steal in 31 minutes played.
