Destiny Robinson of Chowan and Jada Richards of Francis Marion Named Women’s Basketball Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Destiny Robinson of Chowan and Jada Richards of Francis Marion have earned the weekly honors in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball for the week ending Dec. 19.
Robinson was selected as the Player of the Week, while Richards earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
A senior forward from Hampton, Virginia, Robinson averaged 18 points, 11.5 rebounds and 7.5 blocks on the week. On Dec. 15 she scored 19 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, had four blocks, two steals and an assist in a win over Francis Marion. She closed the week with an unusual triple-double as she scored 17 points, grabbed 12 boards and blocked 11 shots. She also had four steals and four assists in the win over King on Dec. 18.
A freshman guard from Douglasville, Georgia, Richards averaged 13.5 points, five rebounds and three steals off the bench in a pair of games for the Patriots. She opened the week on Dec. 15 against Chowan with 13 points, five rebounds and four steals. She then helped FMU to a win over Southern Wesleyan on Dec. 18 as she blocked a shot, recorded two steals, two assists, five rebounds and scored 14 points.
