Conference Carolinas SAAC Making an Impact
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas released its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Impact numbers tallied via a partnership with Clockify and league institutions have tallied over 7200 hours of community service, collected nearly 20,000 cans of food and raised over $2,000 for Make-A-Wish.
Beginning in 2003, NCAA Division II SAAC created a partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Division II has raised more than $6.6 million entering this season and Conference Carolinas has added to that number this fall. UNC Pembroke leads the charge with $671.58 raised through November with Converse not far behind with $534.48 raised. Mount Olive is third with $400. In the community, Belmont Abbey leads the way in service hours with 3,020 through November. Lees-McRae is close behind with 2,946.5 hours of service followed by UNC Pembroke who has totaled 684.71 hours.
The canned food drive initiative was created by the SAAC leadership as a way to make more of an impact in the communities our institutions serve. Barton leads the way with 6,211 items collected followed by Francis Marion with 5,506 and Belmont Abbey with 2,255. UNC Pembroke (2,130) and Mount Olive (2,118) also collected more than 2,100 items.
