Joshua Chepkesir of UNC Pembroke and Jon Wojcuich of Mount Olive Named Track & Field Athletes of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Joshua Chepkesir of UNC Pembroke and Jon Wojcuich of Mount Olive were named Conference Carolinas Track and Field Athletes of the Week for men’s track and field for their performances in the week ending Dec. 5.

Chepkesir was named Track Athlete of the Week while Wojcuich is the Field Athlete of the Week.
 
The junior from Eldoret, Kenya, set a new meet record in the 5000m at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-off Classic with an NCAA DII Provisional time of 14:38.16 which ranks 11th. He out-paced the rest of the field in the event by nearly nine seconds. He also won the event title in the 3000m (8:29.52).

A senior from Beulaville, North Carolina, Wojcuich post the fifth-best weight throw this season with an NCAA DII Provisional mark of 19.15m (62-10). His mark won the event at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open. He also placed ninth in the shot put with a mark of 12.12m (39-9.25).
