Breanna Locke of Emmanuel and Destiny Robinson of Chowan Earn Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Breanna Locke of Emmanuel and Destiny Robinson of Chowan have collected the Conference Carolinas women's basketball weekly awards.
Locke was chosen as the Player of the Week, while Robinson earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Currently leading Conference Carolinas in scoring with 20.8 points per game, Locke last week averaged 20 points and nine rebounds per game in two wins for Emmanuel. The senior forward/center from Flowery Branch, Georgia shot 57 percent (16-of-28) from the field on the week. Locke had 22 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot against Southern Wesleyan on Feb. 9. She followed that up with a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds to go along with six assists in Emmanuel's win over Lees-McRae on Saturday, Feb. 13.
A junior forward from Hampton, Virginia, Robinson averaged 16 points, 14.5 rebounds and five blocks per game last week for Chowan. In Chowan's first game against King on Feb. 12, Robinson had 19 rebounds, 16 points, six blocks and one steal. In the second game on Feb. 13, Robinson had 16 points, 10 rebounds, four blocks and one steal.
