Payton Whitley of Belmont Abbey and Hannah Houge of Erskine Named Weekly Award Winners for Softball

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Payton Whitley of Belmont Abbey and Hannah Houge of Erskine have picked up the Conference Carolinas softball weekly awards.
 
Whitley was chosen as the Player of the Week, while Houge earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
A junior from Albemarle, North Carolina, Whitley hit .500 in a season-opening doubleheader sweep of William Peace. She had two triples to go along with two runs scored and two RBIs.
 
A senior pitcher from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Houge truck out 24 in two wins last week for Erskine. She fanned 12 in a season-opening win over Mars Hill on Feb. 9 before also striking out 12 in a win over Lander on Feb. 12. Houge allowed just one earned run and six hits in her 14 innings in the circle with her opponents hitting just .130 against her.
