Caitlyn Smirne and Carlee Allbaugh of Lees-McRae Collect Women’s Volleyball Weekly Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Caitlyn Smirne and Carlee Allbaugh of Lees-McRae have earned the Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball weekly awards.
Smirne was chosen as the Player of the Week, while Allbaugh collected Specialist of the Week accolades.
A senior outside hitter from Winterville, North Carolina, Smirne averaged an impressive 10.5 kills and 12.0 digs per match in a perfect 2-0 start to the season for Lees-McRae. In the thrilling five-set win for Lees-McRae over Belmont Abbey on Saturday, Feb. 8, Smirne had 16 digs and 13 kills.
A freshman setter from Tallahassee, Florida, Allbaugh averaged 35.5 assists and 14 digs per match as Lees-McRae started its season 2-0 for the first time since 2009. Allbaugh first had 31 assists and 14 digs in a win over King before posting 40 assists and 14 digs in the win over Belmont Abbey.
