Jaylen Dilliard of Chowan and Anthony Hicks of Lees-McRae Selected Weekly Award Winners for Men’s Basketball
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Jaylen Dilliard of Chowan and Anthony Hicks of Lees-McRae have picked up the weekly honors for Conference Carolinas men’s basketball.
Dilliard was chosen as the Player of the Week, while Hicks earned Defensive Player of the Week plaudits.
A senior from Richmond, Virginia, Dilliard was lethal from the field in Chowan’s 97-90 win over Lees-McRae on Thursday, Feb. 25. Dilliard finished the win for Chowan 10-of-13 (77 percent) en route to a season-best 26 points. He knocked down four three-pointers in the game while also dishing out four assists. He also had two rebounds.
A junior from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Hicks averaged a steal a game to go along with 4.5 rebounds per game last week for Lees-McRae. He also averaged 5.75 points and two assists per game in the four games for Lees-McRae last week. In Lees-McRae’s thrilling win over Barton to close out the regular season, Hicks had 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. He also scored a layup off a steal to send the game into overtime with just four seconds remaining. The Bobcats would go on to earn a 103-96 win over Barton in overtime.
