Jami Wright of Southern Wesleyan and Zai Fraser of Lees-McRae Named Weekly Award Recipients for Women’s Outdoor Track & Field
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Jami Wright of Southern Wesleyan and Zai Fraser of Lees-McRae have collected the weekly honors for Conference Carolinas women’s outdoor track & field.
Wright was named the Track Athlete of the Week, while Fraser was selected as the Field Athlete of the Week.
A graduate student from Stafford, Virginia, Wright ran the fastest time in all of NCAA Division II so far this season in the 200 meters with a time of 23.58 at the Weems Baskin Relays. The time that shattered the Southern Wesleyan school record is good for 34
th in the world (would be seventh in NCAA Division I) presently.
A freshman from Pensacola, Florida, Fraser won the triple jump competition at the Montreat Invitational with a mark of 12.33 meters. Her NCAA Division II qualifying standard mark is currently best in Conference Carolinas this season and sixth-best in all of Division II.
