Queens Sweeps South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Field Hockey Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. - South Atlantic Conference Carolinas announced its AstroTurf Field Hockey Players of the Week for matches played during the final regular season games this past week. Queens' Gabe Lechner was named Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Avian Thompson was named Defensive Player of the Week. 

Lechner, a sophomore midfielder from Chesapeake, Va., helped lead the Royals to their wins over Mount Olive and Newberry this past week. She scored three goals, garnering six points with four shots on goal for a .600 shooting percentage. This is the first Offensive Player of the Week honor for Lechner.

Thompson, a junior goalie from Hummelstown, Pa., allowed no goals in their game versus Mount Olive and only one against Newberry. She spent 90 minutes overall between the posts while totaling six saves with a .889 save percentage. This is the second Defensive Player of the Week award for Thompson.
