Travious Ford and Jared Davis of Barton Named Weekly Award Winners for Baseball
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Travious Ford and Jared Davis of Barton have been selected as the weekly award winners for Conference Carolinas baseball.
Ford was tabbed as the Player of the Week, while Davis was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week.
A senior from Greenville, North Carolina, Ford hit .555 (10-of-18) with seven runs scored and six RBIs last week. He had three extra-base hits on two home runs and one double. Ford owned a slugging percentage of .944 and an on-base percentage of .579 in Barton’s 3-1 weekend against Southern Wesleyan. Down 9-5 entering the bottom of the ninth, Ford capped off a thrilling comeback win in the series finale for Barton by blasting a three-run game-winning home run to lead the Bulldogs to an 11-9 victory.
A junior from Poquoson, Virginia, Davis pitched a complete-game in leading Barton to an 11-2 game two win over Southern Wesleyan. Davis struck out six in his nine innings on the mound.
