Conference Carolinas Releases Men’s Lacrosse All-Conference Accolades
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas has released its 2021 all-conference honors for men’s lacrosse.
The 2021 men’s lacrosse all-conference awards were selected by the league’s head coaches.
A junior from Grand Island, New York, Thomas Cecere of North Greenville was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Year. Cecere led Conference Carolinas during the regular season in points (4.85) and goals (3.31) per game. He was also third in the league in assists per game (1.54).
A senior goalie from Clarence, New York, Andrew Avarello of Mount Olive was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. Avarello was tops in Conference Carolinas in goals against average (6.72) and save percentage (.616) during the regular season.
A freshman from Wallingford, Connecticut, Devin Napoli of North Greenville was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year. Napoli was in the top five in the league in points (3.42) and goals (2.58) per game.
Barton concluded the shortened 2020 spring season with a 1-6 overall record, but the Bulldogs responded in the spring of 2021 by ending the regular season with an 8-4 overall record. For his efforts in helping to guide his program to the eight wins overall, which also included a 3-2 mark in league play, Barton head coach Warren Shumate was selected by his peers as the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year.
