Women's Tennis Semifinals Set Up Strong Sunday

SUMTER, S.C. – The top two seeds cruised to the 2021 Conference Carolinas Women’s Tennis Championship Match after semifinals action on Saturday at the Palmetto Tennis Complex.

The top-seeded Erskine Flying Fleet will take on second-seed Mount Olive in the Championship Match on Sunday at 11am.

#2 Mount Olive 4, #3 Emmanuel 1

Emmanuel would gain the advantage in the doubles portion picking up the doubles point after wins of 6-1 and 6-4 at No. 1 and 3 positions.
Mount Olive quickly won singles play as the top three singles positions picked up wins before Deike Schipper dispelled her opponent at No. 6 with a 6-4, 6-2 victory.

#1 Erskine 5, #4 Belmont Abbey 1

Erskine moved through the doubles portion quickly by earning 6-0 and 6-2 victories at No. 2 and 3 positions.

The Fleet’s Luize Valtere continued the scoring with a 6-1, 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position before Belmont Abbey’s Sylvia Goldsmith put the Crusaders on the board with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 2. 

Erskine’s Emma Bentz, Faith Wright, and Czarina Aguirre fought off the Belmont Abbey rally winning the opening set in tiebreaking fashion before winning the second set.
