Double Elimination Portion of Baseball Championship Now Set After Opening Round Games on Wednesday
WILSON, N.C. - On the opening day of the 2021 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship at Historic Fleming Stadium, the pitcher friendly ballpark was not so friendly, allowing seven home runs as King and Barton advanced.
#3 Erskine will face #4 Belmont Abbey to start the double elimination portion of the bracket on Thursday at 11 a.m. #2 North Greenville and #5 Barton will square off at 3 p.m. with #1 Mount Olive taking on #7 King in the 7 p.m. contest.

Opening Round Games (Single Elimination)
#7 King 6, #6 Emmanuel 1 (Box Score)
The long ball was on full display in the opening game of the championship as King hit two home runs on its way to a 6-1 victory over Emmanuel. Junior Renwick and Jarrett Backus delivered the blows for King.
Emmanuel's offense was held in check until the bottom of the ninth inning as Drew Moore struck out 14 in the complete-game victory.
#5 Barton 23, #8 Southern Wesleyan 6 (Box Score)
Barton exploded for nine runs in the opening inning on their way to a 23-6 victory as Travious Ford hit two home runs on the two pitches he saw in the first inning. Ford would add another home run in the eighth inning.
Southern Wesleyan closed the gap in the third inning with a four-run inning as Tanner Glass hit a two-run home run.
Barton then scored 14 unanswered runs as Alex Hart settled in by tossing seven strong innings with seven strikeouts.
Southern Wesleyan's bats came alive though again in the bottom of the ninth inning with three hits and an error for a pair of runs. The runs would not be enough with Barton advancing to face the Crusaders.
