Three From Conference Carolinas Named NFCA All-Southeast Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Three Conference Carolinas student-athletes have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) all-region team.
 
The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association’s eight regions with first and second-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2021 NFCA Division II All-America squads.
 
A senior from Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Hannah Houge of Erskine was chosen to the All-Southeast Region first team. The two-time Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year was phenomenal during league play with 15 wins and a 2.00 ERA. She struck out 179 in conference play. Overall on the season, Houge finished her season with a 1.94 ERA and a 21-5 overall record. She had 249 strikeouts and opponents hit just .197 against her.
 
A first team all-conference selection, Nikole Counts of King was tabbed to the NFCA All-Southeast Region second team. The sophomore from Clintwood, Virginia finished her season with a 14-6 overall record and an ERA of 1.88. She had 92 strikeouts and opponents hit just .226 against her.
 
A first team all-conference choice, Courtlynn Cooney of Mount Olive was selected to the NFCA All-Southeast Region second team. A freshman from Mechanicsville, Maryland, Cooney hit an impressive .414 (53-of-128) during the season for Mount Olive. She scored 35 runs and she had 16 RBIs.
