Jami Wright of Southern Wesleyan Named USTFCCCA Southeast Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS – Jami Wright of Southern Wesleyan has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.
 
A graduate student from Stafford, Virginia, Wright is ranked first nationally in the 200 at 23.58 and third nationally in the 400 at 54.43. She was named the Conference Carolinas Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 200, 400 and being part of the victorious 4×100 and 4×400 relays.
 
With Wright’s honor, Conference Carolinas now sweeps the women's Indoor and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year awards for the region. Jharna Alston of Emmanuel was selected as the Southeast Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. 
 
Both Wright and Alston will next compete at the 2021 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
 
The championships will be held May 27-29 in Allendale, Michigan at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium. Grand Valley State University and the West Michigan Sports Commission will serve as co-hosts of the championships.
