Conference Carolinas Puts Together Strong Opening Day at NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Conference Carolinas put together a strong opening day at the 2021 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
 
In the women’s 100 meters, Jharna Alston of Emmanuel qualified for the final on Saturday with a time of 11.61. The time was the third-best qualifying time.
 
Jami Wright of Southern Wesleyan posted the fourth-fastest qualifying time in the 400 meters (54.98) to advance to the final on Saturday.

Both Alston and Wright will compete in the 200 meters first round on Friday for the right to advance to the final on Saturday in the event.
 
In the men’s 100, Tevin Richardson of North Greenville qualified for the final on Saturday with a time of 10.38. Richardson will also compete in the 200 meters first round on Friday for the right to advance to the final on Saturday in the event.
 
Sulaimane Bangura of Emmanuel qualified for the final in the men’s 400 meters on Saturday with a time of 47.64 in the first round on Thursday.
 
Lees-McRae’s Zai Fraser will compete in the women’s triple jump final on Friday.
