Six-Run Inning Bottom of the Eighth Propels North Greenville to Regional Win Over Catawba

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – A six-run bottom of the eighth inning propelled North Greenville to a 12-8 victory over Catawba at the 2021 NCAA Division II Baseball Southeast Regional.
 
North Greenville opened the game strongly by posting four runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Catawba responded by cutting the lead in half at 4-2 in the top of the third frame. North Greenville would go back ahead by four at 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth, but two runs each in the top of the fourth and fifth innings for Catawba would even things up at 6-6. Catawba scored a single run in the top of the seventh to go up 7-6.
 
North Greenville would respond to Catawba by plating the six runs in the bottom of the eighth. Catawba plated one single run and loaded the bases in the top of the ninth with two outs, but North Greenville's Christian Ryder struck out the lone batter he faced to close the door on Catawba and secure the win for North Greenville. 
 
With the win, North Greenville will face off against Columbus State at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Josh Senter led North Greenville in its win over Catawba with a 3-for-5 performance that included four RBIs and two runs scored.

Mount Olive and Wingate were forced due to inclement weather to finish their game at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Wingate leads Mount Olive, 12-4, with one out on the board in the top of the sixth.
 
Mount Olive led the contest 4-2 after three innings, but 10 unanswered runs has allowed Wingate to pull ahead by the eight runs.
