Tremendous Season for Mount Olive Men’s Tennis Ends at NCAA Division II Southeast Regional
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament champion Mount Olive closed out its 2021 spring season with a 4-0 loss to North Georgia in the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Southeast Regional.
The match opened with the sixth-seeded Trojans and third-seeded Nighthawks having a true battle in doubles with North Georgia narrowly taking the point. Mount Olive’s No. 1 tandem of Armando Ferreira and Guilherme Oliveira were up 4-3 at No. 1 doubles, but the doubles match was left unfinished after North Georgia took the win at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to earn the overall point and an early 1-0 advantage.
North Georgia claimed wins at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles to earn the team victory and advance to face second-seeded Lander. The other three singles matches were extremely close with Mount Olive battling itself in position to earn victory, but they were not needed with the Nighthawks already securing the 4-0 win.
