Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships to Return to Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in 2022
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Conference Carolinas will return to Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium on the campus of Wofford College for its 2022 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships.
“This is a truly exciting announcement for Conference Carolinas,” Commissioner Chris Colvin said. “When we initially announced in October of 2019 that we were going to make Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium the home of our Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships it was incredibly well-received by all in Conference Carolinas. Our 2020 Basketball Championships truly showcased our top-notch student-athletes and I know after a year away that with the strong foundation set in year one at Wofford College we will be able to build even more into making this one of the most exciting events on our calendar annually.”
The 2020 Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships were able to be held just before the COVID-19 pandemic unfortunately closed out the 2019-20 academic year.
“We are forever thankful that we were able to host our Basketball Championships in 2020,” Colvin said. “It was just a few short days later that the world changed completely for all of us. Our member institutions did a fantastic job hosting our 2021 Basketball Championships at campus sites this past academic year and we cannot thank them enough for their efforts.”
The 2020-21 academic year was special for Conference Carolinas men’s and women’s basketball, and Colvin knows that returning to Wofford continues to only enhance the tremendous brand of basketball in the league.
“We are excited to know that we are back at Wofford College for our 2022 Basketball Championships coming off a 2020-21 season where we had an Elite Eight participant in women’s basketball, both regional finalists in women’s basketball and a regional finalist in men’s basketball. It truly is a thrilling time to be associated with Conference Carolinas basketball,” Colvin continued.
Wofford College is also thrilled to have Conference Carolinas back at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
“We are looking forward to hosting Conference Carolinas once again for their Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships,” Wofford College Director of Athletics Richard Johnson said. “Having hosted the tournament in 2020 at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium, we know we can deliver a top-notch experience for the coaches, student-athletes and fans when they return to the facility in 2022.”
