Emmanuel Swimming Legend Alex Sobers Represents Conference Carolinas at Olympics

TOKYO - Emmanuel swimming legend Alex Sobers represented Barbados in the Olympics on Saturday, July 24, 2021. 
 
The 2019 NCAA Division II champion in the 500 freestyle competed in the 400m freestyle. To see the final results from the five qualifying heats at the Tokyo Aquatic Centre, please visit HERE.

Prior to his appearance in the pool, Sobers served as one of the flag bearers for Barbados during the Opening Ceremony.

Currently a volunteer assistant with Boston College (where he is also a graduate student), Sobers was featured by Bob Rose during the fall of 2020 as part of Conference Carolinas’ 90-year celebration. You can check out the story by visiting HERE.

This was Sobers’ second appearance in the Olympics as he competed for Barbados in the 2016 Olympics in Rio at 17.
