Conference Carolinas well Represented on IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass.  - The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) announced the 2021 Division II Academic Honor Roll and Honor Squads on Tuesday and Conference Carolinas had four teams and 24 student-athletes recognized. In all 442 student-athletes from 73 institutions in NCAA Division II as well as 319 schools across four divisions earned honors.

The four programs named to the Honor Squad are Barton, Belmont Abbey, Chowan and Mount Olive. Each school had at least three Honor Roll recipients. 

The Trojans had a conference-best eight honorees, five seniors and three juniors. Caroline Abbott (Recreational Therapy), Emery Kennedy (Criminal Justice and Criminology) and Meaghan Michaud (BS Biology/Chemistry/Psychology) were juniors while Alison Davis (Science and Leadership), Zoe Dougherty (Business Administration/Accounting), Morgan Nicholson (Psychology), Chaija Olsson (Criminal Justice) and Emily Prentice (Chemistry/Biochemistry) were seniors. 

Five Valkyries earned recognition for Converse in juniors Sydney Burbage (Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education/Learning Disabilities Education/ASL), and Camryn Wales (Special Education - Comprehensive) and seniors Mercedes Dempsey (Psychology), Alexis Hunter (Child and Family Studies/ASL) and Ciriaca Petitto (Biochemistry).

The Crusaders placed juniors Sarah Ciampa (Elementary Education/English) and Michelle Leahy (Business Management/Economics) and seniors Kylie Eastman (Business Management/Sports Management) and Angelina Perrone (Business Management, Criminal Justice/Sports Management) on the list. 

Three seniors, Kayli Ashenfelter (Nursing), Brooke Lonergan (Exercise Science) and Morgan McFuggin (Sports Management) and graduate student Natalie Brooks (MBA) represented the Bulldogs while the Hawks were represented by junior Brooke Woods-Pennell (Business/Accounting) and seniors Brianna Bucksell (Biology/Chemistry) and Jordan Nicholson (Business). 

In order to qualify as an Academic Honor Squad, teams must have posted a 3.2 GPA for the academic year while Academic Honor Roll student-athletes must be a junior or above in academic standing and have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater.
