Mickey Call to Serve as Coordinator of Softball Officials for Conference Carolinas
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas is pleased to announce that Mickey Call has agreed to be the Softball Supervisor of Officials.
Call comes to Conference Carolinas with over 40 years of softball officiating experience at the professional level as well as in NCAA Division I, II and III. He has umpired 15 conference championships and 13 NCAA Regional/Super Regionals.
“We are thrilled that Mickey has agreed to be our Supervisor of Officials for softball,” Commissioner Chris Colvin said. “I have had the privilege to see Mickey’s efforts first-hand over the years and I know that his professionalism and background are going to be a true asset for Conference Carolinas in the years to come. We have a strong product in Conference Carolinas softball and I know Mickey will be able to help us continue to have some of the top umpires in all of NCAA Division II.”
Born and raised in New York City, Call is a retired Air Force veteran. He retired after 22 and a half years in the Air Force, which included two tours in Vietnam. Call also worked with the Xerox Corporation for 21 years as their Global Business Development Director before retiring.
For the past 23 years, Call has served as a softball assigner at all three levels of NCAA softball. In addition to his role with Conference Carolinas, Call is also the Coordinator of Officials for the Atlantic 10 (A-10), the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), the Southern Conference (SoCon) and the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) in NCAA Division I and the USA South Athletic Conference (USA South) in NCAA Division III.
Call has been selected by the NCAA to preside as the Umpire-in-Chief for Division I, II and III Regional and Super Regional Championships for the past 10 years.
