Mount Olive Picked to Defend Title in Conference Carolinas Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll

GREENVILLE, S.C. Two-time defending tournament champion Mount Olive has been picked to claim the regular season title in the 2021 Women’s Soccer Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
 
The conference office officially unveiled the preseason poll on Aug. 18, 2021. The preseason poll was voted on by the league’s head coaches.
 
Mount Olive has one the past two conference tournaments and the last regular season champion crowned in 2019 after going 4-2 in league play last season. The Trojans received 10 first-place votes and 141 points. Conference newcomer UNC Pembroke was tabbed second with 127 points and two first-place votes with North Greenville tabbed third with 119 points. 
 
Chowan was fourth with 106 points and Belmont Abbey claimed the final first place vote and 103 total points in fifth. They are followed by Francis Marion (85), the second conference newcomer, Lees-McRae (84), Barton (68), Emmanuel (66), King (41), Erskine (38), Southern Wesleyan (19) and Converse (17).
 
The 2021 season gets underway on Thursday, Sept. 2, with conference play beginning on Sept. 18. The first two rounds of the conference tournament will take place on campus sites at the higher seeds on Nov. 3 and 6. The semifinals and championship, Nov. 12 and 14, will be played at the Florence Soccer Complex in Florence, South Carolina.
