Ellie Gore of Converse and Shaunalee Govia of Mount Olive Named Women’s Soccer Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Ellie Gore of Converse and Shaunalee Govia of Mount Olive took home Conference Carolinas women’s soccer weekly honors for the week ending Sept. 19.
Gore was chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Govia collected Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
A freshman midfielder from Bakersfield, California, Gore recorded her first career goal and assisted on another in the Valkyries 1-0-1 week. Gore netted the game-tying goal in a 1-1 tie with Emory & Henry in the 78th minute and assisted on a goal in the 2-1 conference win over Chowan. She played 138 minutes on the week for Converse.
A senior defender from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and two-time Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, Govia earned her first weekly honor thanks to a pair of assists in the Trojans win over Bluefield State and her strong play on the back line in a pair of shutouts on the week. Mount Olive allowed just six shots on the week with four on frame.
