Brianna Warren of UNC Pembroke and Kaylee Gillespie of Francis Marion Earn First Weekly Women’s Volleyball Honors

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Brianna Warren of UNC Pembroke and Kaylee Gillespie of Francis Marion have earned the first weekly honors for the fall of 2021 for Conference Carolinas women’s volleyball.
 
Warren was tabbed as the Player of the Week, while Gillespie earned Specialist of the Week honors.
 
A junior middle blocker from Indian Trail, North Carolina, Warren finished UNC Pembroke’s four matches in the USC Aiken Invitational hitting an impressive .397. She averaged 8.8 kills, 4.8 blocks and 2.5 digs per match. Warren had double-digit kills (10 each) in UNC Pembroke’s wins over Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial on Sept. 3. In UNC Pembroke’s match with Auburn Montgomery on Sept. 4, Warren finished with 11 blocks (three solo).
 
A sophomore setter from Pickens, South Carolina, Gillespie had a double-double in all four matches last week for Francis Marion at the Erskine Tournament. In total, Gillespie averaged 10.8 assists and 3.79 digs per set in the four matches for the Patriots. Gillespie also surpassed the 500-assist mark in just her 16th match of her career last week.
