Brittany Autry of Belmont Abbey and Destiny Johnson of Lees-McRae Named Women’s Basketball Weekly Award Winners
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Brittany Autry of Belmont Abbey and Destiny Johnson of Lees-McRae have earned the weekly honors in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball for the week ending Jan. 16.
Autry was selected as the Player of the Week, while Johnson earned Defensive Player of the Week accolades.
Autry, a senior center from Mineral Springs, North Carolina, led the Crusaders to a 60-49 road win over North Greenville on Saturday, Jan. 15 as she scored a game-high 23 points and had 16 rebounds in the lone game of the week for Belmont Abbey. She finished the contest 10-of-16 (63 percent) from the field and 3-of-5 (60 percent) from the charity stripe while also collecting two blocked shots.
A senior guard from Iron Station, North Carolina, Johnson also led the Bobcats to a 59-41 home win over North Greenville on Tuesday, Jan. 11. In the lone game on the week for Lees-McRae, Johnson grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds, 12 defensive, to go with one block and five steals. She also scored nine points and dished out four assists while playing all 40 minutes.
