Rankings Update: Conference Carolinas Continues Strong Presence in National Polls

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Several Conference Carolinas institutions improved their position across national and regional polls this week, highlighted by UNC Pembroke men’s basketball garnering their highest ranking in the 30-year NCAA Division II era of the program. 

The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association released the seventh Division II Top 25 regular-season poll of the 2021-22 season and Barton moved up three spots to No. 20 with 145 points. In the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Women’s Basketball Poll, Barton is the first team receiving votes with 23 and improved one spot to No. 4 in the Southeast Region with 34 points. Mount Olive is sixth with 25 points and Chowan is 10th with three points. The WBCA poll is available here while the D2SIDA polls are here.

In the latest edition of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Top 25 poll, UNC Pembroke climbed three spots to No. 16 with 154 points. In the D2SIDA Men’s Basketball poll UNC Pembroke improved five spots to No. 11 with 210 points in the national rankings and was voted No. 1 in the Southeast region with 56 points and three-of-six first-place votes. Lees-McRae joined the Braves in the regional ranking at No. 10 with 10 votes. The NABC poll can be found here while the D2SIDA polls can be found here

The first regular season Off the Block Division II Men’s Volleyball Coaches Poll was released this week and Mount Olive moved up one spot to No. 4 with 71 points while Belmont Abbey remained sixth with 48 points and King is ninth with 17 points. North Greenville (9), Emmanuel (5) and Barton (1) also received votes. The full poll is available here

In the pool, the updated SwimCloud Top-50 dual rankings saw the Emmanuel men climb to No. 15 with 710.60 points while Lees-McRae came in at No. 50 with 593.40 points. In the women’s standings, UNC Pembroke led all conference schools at No. 43 with 607.15 points followed by Emmanuel (48th, 597.95) and Lees-McRae (49th, 592.35).
