Conference Carolinas Sees 27 Named to NCCSIA Fall All-State Teams
WILMINGTON, N.C. - The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association announced its selections for the 2021 College Division Fall All-State Teams in men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball on Monday morning. Conference Carolinas had 27 student-athletes from four institutions earn recognition.
On the men’s soccer team, Conference Carolinas had 11 student-athletes honored. Chowan had three first-team selections in goalkeeper Charlie Farrar, defender Toby Sims and midfielder Harri Lovett as well as second-team midfielder Erik Ruiz. Lees-McRae also had four honorees in first-team forward Johannes Oeksnevad and second-team selections Cam Morton (defender), Zachary Aversano (midfielder) and Daniel Garvilla (forward). Barton had the final three selections in first-team forward Luis Hernandez Velasco and second-teamers Jacob Randolph (goalkeeper) and Tobias Nielsen (defender).
Five women’s volleyball student-athletes earned honors led by UNC Pembroke’s three honorees. The Braves saw middle blocker Brianna Warren, right side/opposite hitter Shannon Skyrd and setter Katie Pressley earn first-team honors. Barton outside hitter Allison Gambill was also a first-team selection while Lees-McRae libero Lauren Xayavong was named to the second team.
The final 11 honorees came in women’s soccer led by UNC Pembroke’s six selections. Midfielder Anna Grossheim and forward Rilee Serring earned first-team honors while defenders Maya Grimes and Kennedy Rucker, midfielder Abigail Lowry and forward Alexis Pittman earned second-team honors. Chowan had two first-team selections in midfielders Carolina Lucci and Sabrina Henderson while Barton defender Hailey Russell also earned first-team honors. Lees-McRae had two second-team selections in midfielder Alexa Todd and forward Taylor Barrineau.
Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, softball and baseball.
