Sulaimane Bangura of Emmanuel and Orlandus Gamble of UNC Pembroke Named Men’s Track & Field Athletes of the Week

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Sulaimane Bangura of Emmanuel and Orlandus Gamble of UNC Pembroke were named the Conference Carolinas Track and Field Athletes of the Week for men’s track and field for their performances in the week ending Jan. 23.

Bangura was named Track Athlete of the Week, while Gamble is the Field Athlete of the Week.
 
A senior from Conyers, Georgia, Bangura finished second in the 400m at the Carolina Challenge hosted by the University of South Carolina with a time of 47.63. His time is tops in Conference Carolinas and fourth-fastest in NCAA Division II. He also finished 29th in the 200m with a time of 22.31.

Gamble, a junior from Kings Mountain, North Carolina, placed second in the high jump at the JDL Flat is Fast Invitational with a mark of 2.03m (6-8), which is the top mark in the league this season.
