Men’s Basketball Developmental Championship Preview
GREENVILLE, S.C.– The inaugural Conference Carolinas men’s basketball developmental championships will take place on Monday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7 on the campuses of King, Barton and Belmont Abbey.
The event, which is a unique championship opportunity for developmental teams within Conference Carolinas, will consist of a preliminary round at King and Barton on Jan. 31 with the championship slated for Feb. 7 at Belmont Abbey.
The King bracket will feature Belmont Abbey, Converse, Southern Wesleyan, Erskine, Emmanuel and King. Game one features Belmont Abbey and Converse on court one while Southern Wesleyan and Erskine will compete in game two on court two with both games at 11 a.m. Emmanuel will play game one winner in game three on court two at 1:30 p.m. while King will face the game two winner in game four on court one also at 1:30 p.m.
The King consolation bracket will take place at 4 p.m. with the losers of game one and game four squaring off on court two and the losers of game two and game three will play on court one. The King bracket championship game will be held at 6:30 p.m. on court one.
The Barton bracket will feature Barton, Belmont Abbey, Chowan, Francis Marion and Mount Olive. Game one features Barton and Belmont Abbey on court one at 11 a.m. Mount Olive and Chowan will play on court one in game two at 1:30 p.m. while Francis Marion will host the game one winner in game three on court one at 4 p.m. Also at 4 p.m. the losers of game one and two will play on court two. The Barton bracket championship game will take place on court one at 6:30 p.m. An if necessary consolation game will also be played on court two at 6:30 p.m. between the winner of game four and loser of game three if the game one winner also wins game three.

Earlier this fall Conference Carolinas announced that a developmental championship will be held in men’s and women’s soccer, men’s basketball and baseball. The developmental teams will be composed of student-athletes that have either not competed at the varsity level in 2021-22 or have competed sparingly at the varsity level by the time of the championship.
