Nine Conference Carolinas Baseball Student-Athletes Named NCBWA Preseason All-America
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NBWA) announced the 2022 Preseason All-America teams and nine Conference Carolinas student-athletes were honored.
North Greenville led all conference programs with four selections while Mount Olive had two selections. King, Belmont Abbey and Francis Marion each had one honoree.
North Greenville’s John Michael Faile was named first team catcher after hitting .438 last season with 21 home runs and 73 RBIs. Mount Olive’s Hunter Stevens joined Faile on the first team as a one of three starting pitchers on the team with a 9-0 record and a 1.90 ERA last season.
North Greenville utility player Gehrig Octavio was named to the second team after hitting .441 with 52 runs scored and 24 RBIs last season. Ethan Stringer, an outfielder for North Greenville, was named to the third team after hitting .394 last season while King’s Drew Moore was named a third team starting pitcher.
Mount Olive first baseman Vito Patierno, Belmont Abbey second basemen Mason Dodd, Francis Marion third basemen Todd Mattox and North Greenville outfield Marek Chlup were named honorable mention selections.
